Belarusian Winter in Scotland

22 March 2021

What a Winter in Scotland (even if just for a few days) - a historic moment! So, let’s preserve it for history. Snowy and frosty weather in the middle of February on the eastern coast of Scotland is quite a rarity.

These are historic days!

Belarusian Winter in Scotland!!

Generally, the weather in Scotland is certainly colder than in England, but in winter, it’s much warmer than in Belarus. And to have so much snowfall and the temperature drop below -10°C, that happens very rarely.

In mid-February, the UK experienced its lowest temperatures since 1995, and in Scotland, it dropped to -23°C. This is the lowest temperature recorded in the UK in over 25 years!!

Of course, when trees are covered in caps of snow, beautiful frost patterns appear on windows, and you find yourself in snowdrifts - it’s incredibly inspiring in a wintry way! But…

I don’t really enjoy being in Scotland during the winter. I’m always freezing at home. Scots, despite not having very cold winters, seem to be quite cold-resistant. They dress quite lightly and keep the temperature in their homes around 18 degrees. And I love it at plus 25!

Fortunately, spring is coming soon! And I’m really looking forward to the daffodil season! They’re everywhere in Scotland! Thousands of them along the roads and in parks! An indescribably beautiful sight!
